Ok, for all my friends who likes to read Paulo Coelho's book and those who are lucky to have an iTunes account, check this out! "The Alchemist" is a free audiobook until July 14, 2008. Go to iTunes Store and search for "The Alchemist" or you'd usually find it in the main page. It'd be a refresher for me to "hear" this book again since I've read this back in high school - dang, that was a long time ago. P.S. Forgive the low quality screenshot but Multiply really sucks when uploading photos to blog posts. | Category: | Movies | | Genre: | Action & Adventure |
I had a difficult time getting a ticket of this today since it's a holiday. A lot of Malaysians are out in malls to enjoy the mid-week break. Luckily I managed to walk across several malls to find one last ticket for a 1.40pm showing. Of course, I watched the movie by myself again...I've always done this even when I was in the U.S. - some friends find it weird and feel bad they don't get invited. Haha! Anyway, on to my review. I'd say, this movie is well done to start up a franchise of Iron Man series. Just like "The Dark Knight" with Christian Bale as Batman, Iron Man starts off with how the weapons specialist/tycoon Tony Stark started his heroic stunts. Robert Downey, Jr. has had problematic times in real live but I'm sure everybody agrees that he acts very well. Match it with comic humor, amazing graphic effects, and flirting with Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) - you're set for an amazing ride. I am no Iron Man fan or have even read one comic book of the hero but Robert Downey, Jr. did portray his character well - "a likeable asshole" - copying from the Wikipedia entry of the film. If you're no comic fan - particularly with Marvel comics, you wouldn't find this as interesting if you were a fan. You'd have to connect the character of Tony Stark in the comics to the Tony Stark that Robert Downey, Jr. portrayed to appreciate it fully. However, I still think the delivery of the story of who Iron Man is perfect. After watching, I just thought of finding ways to read the Iron Man comics :) | | I can't sleep last night so I just browsed thru different sites I frequent until I stumbled on PhilMUG (my source of great tips!) and found this!.

It's from vladstudio.com. It's a wallpaper clock. It automatically changes the clock in your desktop wallpaper. There's a version for Mac and Windows. Neat app really. Which reminds me...it's 2am already. Time to sleep! |
Raymond Leblanc (1916-2008) was the man who brought Herge's Tintin and his adventures to life (that's Leblanc and Herge below), continued on Asterix and founded Belvision "which animate comic strip characters by hand for television" in 1954. I was able to read a few of these comic magazines and watched a few episodes of Tintin in animated tv series. The original proponents of the adventures of Tintin has come to end but they will be remembered with passion from Tintin followers. The news has sparked my interest in reading the whole series of comic books about Tintin. It's like my little known hobby of buying books of Calvin and Hobbes (which I already have one - and haven't finished yet! Ugh!). | Start: | Mar 8, '08 2:00p | | End: | Mar 9, '08 6:00p | | Location: | Gunung Nuang, Malaysia |
I never experienced camping before. I'm a frustrated Boy Scout. Back in those days I can't convince my parents to go on those Jumboree activities - I even had a hard time taking overnight practice in high school. Anyway, this is one of the preparatory hikes before our Kota Kinabalu climb later this year. I'm practically a newbie but I'm no naive traveller...it would be a test of how adept I am with wilderness. It's a 2 day 1 night trek. It's not like my usual day trek from Bukit Gasing and Bukit Putih. I'd be bringing more stuff for the overnight camping...cost me a fortune but it's an investment. I'll be bringing along my Canon Powershot G9. Hopefully, I'd have the endurance to be clear minded enough to shoot instead of panting to catch my breath while climbing...I hope I'm fit enough. =) This is the first time I've seen acrobatic performance of a Lion dance. Nice!!!
Download this and other original video files with Multiply Premium. World meet Macbook Air...Macbook Air meet World! Features and specs after the jump... click here So while I was going around KL to have my Macbook checked and for warranty replacement on the battery, I spent the rest of the day by myself. I had enough chance to shoot away with different perspectives of the Petronas towers. It's my sort of 'scouting' for good vintage points and see which areas look great at different times of the day. It'll take me weeks to note good viewpoints but at least I've started. It wasn't a bright sunny Sunday but I thought I can do post-processing work on these images to make them 'original'. I had thought of sharing it though to have a comparison with what I can do with it later with some little tweaking with Photoshop. My kit lens wasn't wide enough (min-18mm) and how I wish I can have wider lens to fit the two towers and the foundation from my view below. It's a majestic building. Standing tall in the KLCC area - it's the most prominent building besides the KL tower (which I don't have a photo yet). I'll be off to Chennai tonight so I'll get the next chance of shooting at better perspectives by New Year's week or January. | Start: | Nov 20, '07 4:00p | | Location: | KL, MY |
This is it! Bon voyage to myself! :) The last day of the Masskara Festival is one of my best street photography experience. Racing down Araneta taking photos all the dancers and under the bright sun (thank God!) had me sweat profusely - but it was all fun! Now I haven't gone as close to the parade as this when I was still in Bacolod. I'm glad the first experience is right beside (sometimes in the middle!) the parade without squeezing myself to the crowd. Thanks for Meyms for accompanying me. We got a free pass when they saw my cam. Hehe! No need for an official ID. Photographers are really welcome in the parade. It really is a challenge taking street photography especially with a dance parade. I have a photographer's pass in the middle of the road but it's crazy taking photos of the whole event where everything is so quick that a click of the shutter ain't fast enough. Click on the image and let me know what you think. These are my picks. I do hope to get more next year (yeah, I'm going back for 2008!) Just a crack of thought I came up with when I was waiting for my flight for Manila today. I know I have to make a comic panel out from this when I took this shot. Pearl has the cutest facial expressions I've seen!
